Still a very young model in the Tudor lineup - the Black Bay GMT is exactly what it says on the tin. Everything you know and love about the Tudor Black Bay line, but with a twist. Yes, it’s still 200m water resistant. Yes, it has a Tudor-quality COSC movement at its heart. Yes, it’s still a bit big… or is it?
Let’s tackle the elephant in the room - the thickness. Tudor BB’s are well-known to be a beast of a watch, but the GMT line did something different. Pay attention to the sides of the case and see how they chamfer inwards at the bottom towards the caseback. A very minor-looking change but one we firmly support and need to see more of in the BB line. The result is a noticeably more comfortable and wearable alternative to the awesome Black Bay 41.
Of course, this is also a GMT, not just a diver. Sporting the legendary “pepsi” red and blue configuration with an aluminium bezel insert - this watch achieves the Tudor signature goal of referencing classic or vintage Rolex models (in this case, the earlier GMT-Master’s before ceramic took over the bezel insert!) but with their own twists. Even the font retains a slimmer, more modest profile than the Rolex block text of today.
Even BETTER - this set is the most complete and variable you will find on the market for the price. Not one, not two, not three but FOUR strap options. Not everyone likes the rivet-style OEM bracelet, but Uncle Straps produces an excellent Rolex-style oyster bracelet which is included at no extra cost!
