Cartier is the first major luxury and high end watchmaker to develop solar technology. As its Cartier they have found a way to improve it also giving the watches 16 years of battery life before it needs a service, so in 32 years you only need one service! The dial remains unchanged to the naked eye but look at it under a loupe and you will see the sunken recess in the Cartier numerals where the light is taken in and converted to power all whilst retaining the classic Cartier design.
