One of the most popular tool watches on the market, the Explorer II is Rolex’s answer to spelunkers, climbers, divers and bathtub adventurers.
The 16570, its longest production run, boasts all the best features including its trademark fixed 24h bezel allowing for quick day/night 24 time recognition, and thanks to the jumping hour hand setting that bezel now doubles as a GMT, enabling dual time-zone tracking. Not only this, but it is the PERFECT size for a Rolex sports watch unlike its more modern cousin the 216570 at 40mm, but wearing on the smaller side.
This example also has an awesome third-party Rolex-style easy-link fitted into the clasp (which can be removed if desired) for on-the-fly adjustment, a feature the five-digit references did not include.
Featuring a steel case, sapphire crystal, white gold marker surrounds, polished case and bracelet sides, this has all the feelings of luxury but with the brawn of a reliable tool watch.
