Both James’ and Producer Gerald’s first “real” watch they purchased, this unsuspecting quartz Aqua Terra is very close to our hearts at RHW. First arriving on the scene in 2002, the Aqua Terra was Omega’s answer to the Rolex Datejust, and a very capable one at that.
Featuring a perfectly-sized 38.5mm case to suit any wrist size, the sporty yet elegant design could be worn anywhere - and we’re not just talking about occasion. With its very competent 150m depth rating, where it arguably isn’t needed, we see a statement of confidence from Omega that this is their killer shot at the one-watch-collection category. Topping it all off is the Aqua Terra’s now trademark “Teak Concept” design dial - reminiscent of luxury sailboats for that Seamaster heritage that the range carries confidently.
Now, the AT has been through many iterations over the years and many would argue that it has lost its way in the last decade, with silly case sizes and a loss of that early-2000s modesty the earlier models carried off so well. Thankfully - we know where to look. This example dates from 2013, offering the perfect case size, our favourite understated grey variant of the teak-effect dial and in truly immaculate condition - complete with its box and papers - like it’s just left the showroom!
