We could go into obsessive levels of detail on the history of this model, but that is not the true beauty of this stunning watch - it’s all in the condition on this one.

Just to tick the box for those who don’t recognise this model… The Oyster Perpetual Date is essentially the precursor to the Datejust. Offered in 34mm rather than the 36mm of the modern Datejust, these watches may be modest in their sizing (albeit wearing just like a 36mm), but have heaps of character in their elegant design.

For us, this is the quintessential vintage Rolex do-everything watch. It’s dressy enough for the most luxurious black-tie banquet but subtle enough to live comfortably in your office meetings. The pairing of steel and gold is Rolex DNA through and through and the Oyster bracelet couldn’t be more silky and comfortable if you tried. More true to Rolex DNA - the gold is 14k rather than the now-standard 18k, meaning it was that much more hard-wearing. There’s nothing more Rolex than a sophisticated steel & gold timepiece that is perfectly suited to the everyman.

Where this example truly stands out though, is its perfect condition. Take a good, long look at the photos and you’ll find an incredible attractive oxidation on the gold elements (telling you it's unpolished), perfect, sharp lug tips and the original caseback sticker still in place! Put the watch on its side and you will notice it has zero stretch!

Adding in the box & papers, this is the closest you’ll get to warping back 55 years and buying it new… Plus - a 3 month warranty!
