The Cartier Santos is arguably the most important wristwatch ever made. Generally accepted as the first ever men’s wrist watch - hailing from the early 20th Century. The story goes that the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont complained to his friend Louis Cartier that his pocket watch was too inconvenient to check during flying. Louis solved his problem and the rest is history…
In 1987, the Santos was completely revised, renamed, and relaunched as the Santos Galbée. The case lost its boxy looks and became more curved around the lugs, fitting even better on the wrist than the original Santos. Pure 80s glamour redefined, Cartier style!
This example has just been fully serviced and polished so is what we would call “museum-grade” condition. So much history, neo-vintage style, uniquely elegant whilst still sporty.
