The Iconic Legacy
The Globemaster is one of the most important modern Omega watches, yet arguably one of the least understood.
Introduced in 2015, it deliberately looked backwards while technically pushing Omega forwards. Its distinctive pie pan dial referenced the great Constellation chronometers of the 1950s, while the fluted bezel drew on another longstanding element of Constellation design. But beneath that deliberately restrained exterior was something genuinely new: the Globemaster became the world’s first Master Chronometer.
That certification, developed through Omega’s work with the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, METAS, subjected the completed watch to testing for precision, performance and resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. It subsequently became one of the defining technical standards of modern Omega.
And then Omega created this.
Reference 130.93.39.21.99.001 was the ultimate expression of the original three-hand Globemaster. Just 352 examples were produced, entirely in platinum, with a platinum dial and a specially developed version of Omega’s Master Chronometer movement.
This is number 58.
Why You’ll Love It
There are expensive watches that want everybody in the room to know they’re expensive. This isn’t one of them.
Unless you know exactly what you’re looking at, this could simply appear to be a beautifully proportioned 39mm Globemaster. Pick it up, however, and the weight immediately tells another story. The case and fluted bezel are made from Platinum 950. Even the dial is platinum.
Then you start noticing the details.
The hands and applied hour markers are 18ct white gold with vivid blue enamel. The blue alligator strap isn’t simply stitched with conventional thread: Omega used Platinum 950 stitching. Even the folding clasp is platinum. Turn the watch over and the sapphire caseback reveals Calibre 8913 alongside the Constellation observatory medallion.
That restraint is precisely what makes it special. Omega didn’t simply take an existing Globemaster and manufacture the case in a precious metal. Platinum runs through the design of the watch.
And this particular example has effectively been preserved since 2016. It is completely unworn, remains in like-new showroom condition and comes as a complete set, together with an additional Omega travel pouch.
At this level, condition and completeness matter enormously. Finding one of only 352 examples is difficult enough. Finding one that has survived unworn for a decade is something else entirely.
Iconic Status
The significance of the Globemaster goes considerably deeper than its production numbers.
It was the watch Omega chose to introduce Master Chronometer certification to the world. Today, that wording is familiar across the Omega collection. In 2015 it represented a new standard, testing the finished watch not only for chronometric performance but also its ability to continue functioning accurately after exposure to extraordinarily strong magnetic fields.
For this platinum edition, Omega developed the automatic Calibre 8913. It offers 60 hours of power reserve and the same resistance to magnetic fields exceeding 15,000 gauss, but visually it is given a treatment worthy of the watch surrounding it.
The design itself deliberately reconnects Omega with its great Constellation chronometers. The faceted pie pan dial reaches back to 1952, while the observatory medallion on the reverse recalls Omega’s extraordinary history in precision timekeeping.
But perhaps the most interesting thing about this reference is how quietly it carries its status.
No oversized case. No obvious display of precious metal. No diamonds. No complication added simply to justify the price.
Just a 39mm Omega made almost obsessively from platinum, powered by historically significant modern Omega watchmaking and restricted to 352 pieces worldwide.
For the serious Omega collector, that combination is difficult to replicate anywhere else in the modern catalogue.

There are watches that are rare because very few were made, and watches that matter because they represent a significant moment in a manufacturer’s history. Number 58 manages to be both, and to find one completely unworn, a decade after it left Omega, makes this an exceptionally special watch.
